SUMMER is a season when we experience load shedding most. But if we are a bit more careful we can save a lot of power and length of load shedding can be largely reduced. In many offices during the lunch break, we find computers and printers remaining on. Similarly in many houses, we see people keeping their lights and fans on unnecessarily. This is nothing but a sheer waste of valuable energy. The government should launch a campaign to make people conscious about judicious use of electricity. The youth should come forward with social media and create awareness about saving power. Both print and electronic media can play an important role with regard to power-saving campaigns. At the same time, the government should also take immediate steps to step up its power generation capacity by installing more fuel-efficient power generators as the demand for power has been rising. With adequate power, we can change the face of our economy for better. Our economic progress is badly hindered by recurring power deficit. We must not forget the proverb "waste not, want not".
