We were stunned at the recent Sonali Bank heist. The detention of the mastermind and his associate of this burglary have relieved our tension. We cannot but thank the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for nabbing the culprits and recovering approximately the whole amount of money. RAB arrested Habib alias Sohel and his one associate Idris along with five sacks of money from the Shyampur Balurmath area in the capital city.
Officials at the Sonali Bank brnach, situated in Kishoreganj's Rathkhola, noticed a 15-foot long tunnel that led to the vault from an abandoned room of a house next to the bank. Sohel rented the tin-roofed house solely for the purpose of burglary. Sohel had been living for two years in the house.
The arrest has again proved that our law-enforcement agencies are quite efficient. The central bank has already instructed all the banks to ensure the security of the vaults. Recurrence of such incidents will shake the confidence of the people on the banks.
