Shaming our country abroad

I was saddened by a recent incident featuring one of our diplomats working abroad that came out in our newspapers. It was about an act of shameful stealing of a mobile phone from a shop by a probationer Bangladeshi diplomat at the Hague, Holland. It put our country to shame. Further, the real shame, which added salt to the injury, was also there in the newspaper report. It stated that "powerful quarters" with questionable morals are 'putting pressure' on the authorities to let this criminal foreign office trainee go free.
As reported, the man also alleged (possibly to our Hague embassy) that many of his colleagues stole things from the shop, but were not caught. The whole matter based on the 'note verbal' from the Dutch authorities, should be investigated into and if found guilty, these trainees should be dismissed from service and under no circumstances whatsoever should they be transferred to any other department in the government or any public sector. This cannot and must not be done and it calls for harsh yet necessary action in national interest.
