Shortage of paracetamol in districts

August 05, 2021 00:00:00

The shortage of paracetamol tablets and syrups has reportedly further worsened the condition created by the Covid crisis in many districts. According to a news report, the demand for paracetamol has increased several times due to the surge in the number of patients suffering from cold and flu at home.

Drug stores are either refusing to sell paracetamol to customers or charging higher price for the medicine amid the spread of Covid infections. The fall in the supply and rise in the demand have caused an acute crisis of this basic medicine against fever, especially in the districts where coronavirus infection rates are higher. One of the causes of such a crisis of paracetamol is that many people are now storing the drug unnecessarily at home.

It is important to continue the supply of essential drugs. And for this, the authorities concerned should monitor the market to check if there is any manipulation. The authorities must also meet the crisis by taking every possible initiative.
