The incidents of forced disappearance have been rising for the last few years. The common people are anxious as they don't know who is going to be the next victim. Since the criminals behind these abductions and forced disappearances are not being caught, the government is being blamed for it. It is the duty of the government to ensure the security of the common people but it failed to do so.
Many local and international human rights groups have expressed their deep concern over the matter. Many relatives of the victims have directly blamed the law enforcement agencies for the disappearance of their near and dear ones.
Usually, the victims are picked up in the name of the law enforcers and police deny their role in it mysteriously remaining silent over the whole matter. Especially, the case of Illias Ali, an opposition leader, and Aminul Islam, a prominent labour rights activist whose body was found later, created sensation in the media. The inaction and apathy of the government have created serious doubt in the minds of the common people.
