Simplicity is the source of happiness

April 25, 2014 00:00:00

The one who is simple is able to see through the complications of situations and people. Such a person has the ability to only pick out what is useful and worthy from the expanse of all that is available. A simple person's words and actions are the ones that give happiness to those around.  When you are simple in your vision and attitude, you are able to remain happy, as you are free from the complications of all that is happening. Your mind is not caught up with unnecessary things, and you are able to remain easy in the most difficult situations. This attitude also helps in creating an environment of happiness where others too experience this happiness.

The one with self-respect never thinks or feels that he is tolerating. On the other hand, since a person is tolerant, s/he has the strength and ability to bear difficult situations and criticism with ease. If we constantly feel that we have to tolerate a lot, we should check within ourselves using the strength that is hidden within us for dealing with the situation. Another important aspect is attitude which is essentially a blend of perceptions, thoughts and feelings about anyone or anything. Attitude is influenced by memories, past experiences and beliefs. Although we may not notice, our attitude remains within our heart. It is our attitude that reflects back to us in our relationships.  As Swami Vivekananda says, "The greatest truths are the simplest things in the world, simple as your own existence." So, it makes an obvious sense to hold a positive attitude at all times in all situations. Today, what will your attitude be?
