Spare some time for elderly parents

June 21, 2023 00:00:00

A recent study reveals that half of all people aged 60 or above live alone or badly affected by solitude. Most of their children are too busy to see them regularly. In Bangladesh the situation of senior citizens in this regard is not better at all. Experts say that the solitary state is not just a state of mind; it can hasten dementia and increase the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.

Elderly people feel helpless if their family members ignore them. Some of them may have children but they remain busy with their work and family in cities, and cannot see their parents regularly. Realising that we, ourselves, are going to become senior citizens one day, we should visit our elderly parents regularly. And we must spare a little time for them on the holidays at least.
