Stop body shaming
June 03, 2022 00:00:00
In our society, beauty standards are judged according to the body images. If a child is obese, people often advise its parents to make the child lose weight. In the same way, a teenager is noticed by relatives and friends. And most teenagers get bullied because of this reason. And after reaching adult life, it just becomes a frightening issue. Many start to have bulimia, a potentially life-threatening eating disorder, because of this reason.
Body shaming is the practice of making critical and humiliating comments about a person's body shape and size for being either 'too skinny' or 'too fat'. This type of bullying can lead to the severe psychological disorder and mental illness including depression, anxiety and emotional trauma, especially during adolescence. It is hurtful and discriminatory, and should have no place in modern day societies. We should surround ourselves with positive friends and motivate others to be themselves, regardless of their appearance. Do not judge people based on their looks. Judge them by their character and virtues.
