Eid-ul-Azha is around the corner. Cattle markets are being set up in different parts of the country and a large number of sacrificial animals are being prepared for sale. However, the practice of fattening the cattle artificially can be a serious health hazard for us. A section of unscrupulous farmers and traders is involved in artificially fattening sacrificial cattle by injecting hormones and chemicals in their bodies. This is harmful both for the animals and public health. Consuming the meat of artificially fattened cattle might cause diseases such as cancer, cardiac failure, kidney-disease, and cancer-related ailments in humans. This is highly alarming.
If strict measures are taken to prevent the practice of fattening sacrificial animals artificially, no one would dare to commit such a heinous act before Eid-ul-Azha. So, we urge the authorities to enforce the existing laws strictly in this regard, and make people aware of artificially fattened cattle.
