Stop to question paper leak

September 25, 2022 00:00:00

Question paper leak is a serious problem, which seems to have made a comeback to Bangladesh. Six schoolteachers and staff have recently been arrested for their alleged involvement in leaking the question papers of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in Bhurungamari of Kurigram. Leaking question papers of public exams is not a new incident in Bangladesh. In 2018, question papers of 12 out of the 17 subjects were leaked hours before the SSC exams. And in 2017 too, question papers of almost all public exams -- from PSC, JSC, SSC and HSC to the public university admission exams -- were leaked prior to the exams.

If the trend of leaking question papers continues, our education system will collapse. And we will not be able to provide our children a learning-friendly atmosphere. The authorities concerned should take a number of measures so that this incident does not recur. Sending question papers to exam centres in a special kind of aluminium packet, restriction on using cell phones during the exams, monitoring of school authorities and teachers should help checking question leaks. As for the students and guardians, we hope that they will not run after the leaked question. Teachers should also give their students moral support in this regard. We hope the authorities with the help of the law enforcement agencies will succeed in stopping question leaks once and for all.
