Strength of Bangladesh passport

January 13, 2020 00:00:00

Bangladeshi passport holders can enter 41 countries without a prior visa, as do the nationals of Congo, Eritrea and Iran, according to 2020 Henley Passport Index. Japanese, Singaporean and German nationals have three most powerful passports in the world today as they can access 191, 190 and 189 countries respectively without a prior visa. In the report, Bangladesh's ranking is 97th among 107 positions with Afghanistan at the bottom. Myanmar's position is 94th with entry to 47 countries and India's 84th with entry to 58 countries.

This shows some drawbacks in the country's relations with other countries. If legal arrangement is made to visit certain country, tendency to visit without valid documents will come down. If the country's socio-economic and political development is healthy and if it has a good image abroad, other countries will feel encouraged to issue visa or even offer visa-free travel facilities.
