Students must keep campus clean

February 25, 2024 00:00:00

Garbage is strewn across the sides of various roads at Islamic University, creating an ugly and unhygienic environment. This issue persists due to a lack of awareness among students. Numerous food stalls are operated on both sides of the roads inside the campus, offering delicacies in paper packets or polythene bags, which students often consume while walking.

Unfortunately, many students discard their leftover food and packaging along the roadside, contributing to environmental degradation. This irresponsible behaviour leads to airborne dirt and pollutants, which eventually find their way into the drainage system, contaminating the water and spreading various waterborne and airborne diseases.

What is the solution to this problem? Firstly, garbage bins should be placed near the roadside shops to encourage proper disposal. Additionally, the drainage system must be kept clear. It is essential for us to be conscientious and dispose of leftover food, packaging, tissues, and other waste in designated receptacles.

In conclusion, I urge the university authorities and administration to take action by installing dustbins throughout the campus to address this pressing issue. Together, we can create a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
