Suicide bomber kills officer at Pakistan navy complex

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2 (agencies) : Two people, including a navy official, were killed in a suicide attack at central entrance of Naval Complex in Islamabad Wednesday. The second person killed was the suicide attacker.
According to sources, the suicide attacker was trying to enter the Naval Complex when the security guards stopped him. The attacker exploded himself at the entrance, killing two people. The attacker, who was wearing a blue jacket, got off from a public bus.
Police and ambulance reached the spot immediately. Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Fazeel Asghar told the media that at 1:35 pm, a 17-18 year old boy came at the Naval Complex gate and tried to enter. The security officials at the gate stopped him and Ashraf, a Navy official approached him. Ashraf asked the boy to take off his coat and show any identity documents. The boy exploded himself as the Navy official was trying to body search him.
The Navy official Ashraf was killed in the incident besides the suicide attacker. Two other officials were injured in the incident who have been shifted to Navy Hospital. Chief Commissioner said that the injured officials are in critical condition and are provided treatment. He said that their officials are there to assist the injured officials.
Responding to a question, Asghar said that there were no intelligence reports regarding the incident. However, due to the current security threats all the security forces stay alert to deal with any such situation and do whatever they can do to prevent any major incident. He said that the forces have build blockades, increased the number of guards, and whatever could be done.
Meanwhile: Seven militants were killed and more than 60 suspects were arrested amid a search operation in northwest Pakistan's tribal area and all across the Swat valley following a suicide attack, local TV channels reported Wednesday.
A suicide attacker blew himself up in the camp of a provincial parliamentarian Shamsheer Ali Khan on Tuesday, leaving him critically injured who later died of his wounds on the way to hospital.
The security across the Swat valley was beefed up soon after. At least five militants were killed in security forces' operation against the militants in Malakand and as many as 50 suspected militants were nabbed during the search operation.
Meanwhile in the nearby Khyber tribal agency, the Frontier Constabulary (FC) media cell said at least nine militants were arrested during the search operation in Bara area on Wednesday.
Local TV reports said two militants were killed and two others injured during the search operation in Kurram tribal agency and three other militants were apprehended during the operation.
