Taking education centre stage
September 27, 2022 00:00:00
Education is the backbone of a nation. Many countries in the world have become successful only because they have been able to put a good educational system in place. Take the case of Japan. The country got almost destroyed in the World War II, but the one thing they focused on was getting good teachers. And within just years, Japan started developing itself by leaps and bounds. So, today it is among the most developed countries of the world.
When we talk about education, most people think it is just about getting a degree so that one can get a job and support a family. However, education is much more than that. It is about being able to distinguish between the right and the wrong and being wise, dignified and truthful. Proper education creates awareness among people and provides a good platform to the youth to not only prosper themselves but also contribute to the nation's prosperity. It teaches people the importance of peace, brotherhood, equality and justice.
Education creates good leaders who lead their country in the right direction. It is indeed a change agent for a nation. Better education gives you a better nation. It has the power to transform a nation completely. It is a pity that we in Bangladesh have failed to realise the importance of education. This may be the reason why we do not want to invest much in the education sector. And teaching here is still one of the least-paid professions.
