NAIROBI, Jun 10 (AFP): At least ten people were killed when a wall collapsed in a slum in the Kenyan capital's industrial belt, police said Saturday, as rescue workers rushed to the scene.
Five others were injured when the concrete wall collapsed onto nearby shacks where several people were sleeping, said Nairobi's Embakasi police commander Julius Muthuri.
"We have recovered the bodies of the 10 people killed, while others who were injured have been rushed to hospital," Muthuri told the news agency by phone from the scene.
Rescue workers moved into the area to try to save lives under the debris consisting of building blocks and twisted metal sheets, he said.
