The disease called corruption

November 01, 2014 00:00:00

Bangladesh is not a developed country. It is on the way of development. I think we can achieve our goal, if we can stop corruption and add an impetus to economic activities in every sphere.

We begin the day everyday with reports on different shortcomings and mismanagement hitting headlines in newspapers. Why is this problem increasing day by day? I cannot hold the government alone responsible for it. We (the people and the government) have to bear total responsibility for taming the monster of corruption.

We have plenty of natural resources and manpower. Despite the opportunity, we are far away from materialising our dream, because, we are living with corruption. It has been a chronic disease. To cure the disease the following suggestions are being made here"

1. First of all, we should fight the curse on a war footing like Ebola.

2. The government and government employees, mainly those under different ministries and institutions, should plug any loophole that creates room for corruption.

3. Willingness to fight corruption at every stage of life and having sacrificing mentality are the building blocks for prevention of corruption.

We live in a country like Bangladesh that has the history of struggle like those in 1971 and 1952. The bravity and strong determination of our people are enough to defeat this vice. We need to fight it on a war footing.
