The earth is not that we generally know and feel that it is made of all soil and vast ocean and water courses and mountains. The following earth profile are useful and informative for us, our children, grandchildren, others and one will feel the greatness of the wonders of the creator.
The earth is one of the NINE planets that orbit the Sun, which itself is just one of the approximately 100 billion stars in our galaxy - the Milky Way. Recent studies show that there may be more galaxies.
The earth consists of 4 main layers: an inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. At the heart of the earth is the solid inner core of iron and nickel with a temperature of about 7,000 degree Fahrenheit, molten outer core of iron and nickel, mantle of mostly solid silicate material and the crust of silicate material. The earth's crust is the solid outer shell of the earth.
Earth Profile: Distance from the Sun: 93 million miles; surface temperature range (F): minus 126.9 to 136.4; mass: 5,976 billion metric tons; volume: approximately 260 billion cubic miles; specific gravity: 5.52; polar diameter: 7, 900 miles; equatorial diameter: 7,926 miles; polar circumference: 24,860 miles; equatorial circumference: 24,910 miles; total surface area: 197 million sq. miles; land surface area: approximately 58 million sq. miles; water surface area: 139 million sq. miles; water as percentage of total surface area: 70.8 per cent; highest point on land: 29,029 ft; lowest point on land: 1,312 ft. below sea level; greatest ocean depth: 35,840 ft; oceanic crust thickness: 4 miles; continental crust thickness: 2 miles; mantle thickness: 1,700 miles; outer core thickness: 1,4oo miles; inner core thickness: 1,500 miles; age of earth: 4.6 billion years.
Composition of the lower atmosphere: nitrogen 78.0 per cent, oxygen 21.0 per cent, argon 0.93 per cent, other elements less than 0.1 per cent.
This is our earth where we live without knowing it well.
