The golden era of Bangla TV drama

March 17, 2019 00:00:00

Still, many people watch old Bangladesh Television (BTV) drama on YouTube. A few days back, I was watching an old drama named 'Bondhu Amar' (my friend) on YouTube. It starred Afzal Hossain and Suborna Mustafa, two of my favourite actors. I really enjoyed the drama very much. It had such a nice story along with the superb acting performance by the protagonists.

I do not find such finely acted drama on our television channels now-a-days. Some drama serials are just copies of Indian soap operas. I do not see any actor matching the performance prowess of Afzal, Suborna, Humayun Fareedi, Asaduzzaman Noor, Ferdousi Majumdar and others from the 1980s and 1990s. This is sad.

The actors these days are more careful about their looks and attires than the acting itself. Maybe we have a dearth of dedicated actors in our country.

New actors want fame and money overnight. The new generation can learn a lot from the dramas of the past, available on YouT ube.

We have many TV channels and every day many dramas are being aired. But very few leave lasting impressions on the minds of viewers.

I think the drama directors should place more emphasis on content so that they can touch the hearts of the viewers. Only in this way, our people will enjoy healthy recreation on television.
