The month of purification

July 06, 2014 00:00:00

The holy month of Ramadan is a month of purification-purification of one's mind and soul. By fasting we come to know the pains of starved people. The main aim of this month is to have 'takwa'." The month of Ramadan is also significant as the Holy Quran was revealed in this month. Almighty Allah states in holy Quran that there is a night in this holy month which is significant for its greatness. The month has got plentiful 'borkat' and Allah will multiply 'sawab' or blessings, if anybody does anything good in this month. In this month we should be more helpful to the destitute, donate blood to the ailing patients, pay "Zakat" in the proper manner, and finally we must refrain from hurting people, doing any evil deed and speaking ill of others. Alongside fasting, we must keep ourselves away from ill thoughts and evil deeds in our personal as well as social lives. Instead of eating rich iftar items at home, we can share iftar with poor people. If we follow the spirit and significance of Ramadan in our personal and social lives, we can establish peace and tranquillity amongst mankind and build a better nation.
