The ordeal for an Indian visa

I fully endorse the views of Imran Aziz expressed in his letter, published in Tuesday's issue of The Financial Express, suggesting that Indian visit visa be made more traveller-friendly. In last few weeks I have seen similar letters published in your esteemed daily.
I remember, when this E-token system was introduced, the Indian authorities said that it would ease visa obtaining process. But actually it has made it more difficult. Now it is very difficult to get an E-token online as the system remains always busy. On advice from my friends I approached one so-called broker and he arranged an E-token for me in exchange for Tk. 1500.
Now he demands Tk. 3,000 per passport saying that the price has gone up. I do not know if the officials at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka are aware of it. As for myself, I need to go to India every year for annual checkup after undergoing by-pass surgery in 2003. For me there is no alternative but to pay the broker whatever charge he asks for to get an E- token.
I would urge the High Commissioner to please look into the matter from   humanitarian angle.
