The rise of digital supply chain

March 18, 2022 00:00:00

A digital supply chain is a collection of processes that leverage advanced technologies of each stakeholder. Nowadays, supply chain managers' focus should shift away from cost cutting to enabling new processes. Every day, new digital technologies are on their way to bring about revolutionary changes to replace old corporate procedures.

Digitisation has a variety of effects on the economy as a whole. It creates enormous potential and problems for enterprises. In today's globalised world, digitisation is not an option but a requirement for all organisations. The digital transformation enablers include six techniques: big data, cloud services, unique identification and display innovation, robotics, sensors and geo-location, and nanotechnology and 3D printing.

Digitisation is taking place nearly in every aspect of modern enterprises, including supply chain management. It places enormous pressure on organisations to adapt. As a result, managers must be aware of the implications of digitisation.
