Ever year on 2nd April the world observes the autism awareness day and Bangladesh is no exception. Our Honourable Prime Minister attended the main function of the day in Dhaka and stressed the need for proper care for the affected children. The government should help the special schools and in every district open one school for these handicapped children so that their parents do not have to move from pillar to post for education of their autistic children.
Education for an autistic child is expensive as one teacher is needed for one child and therefore many parents cannot afford it. As a father of 10-year-old autistic child, I know that raising an autistic child is a painful affair mentally, physically and financially for parents. If the government comes forward then the burden of a parent will be less and these children will have a chance to be rehabilitated in our society. When our PM stands beside these children, I feel optimist about their future. I sincerely thank Prime Minister and her daughter for their praiseworthy steps for the betterment of this neglected section of our society. I hope all good words will be translated into action and we will see a better future for our children who are not like other people physically and mentally.
