Tomato Fever, beware!

May 17, 2022 00:00:00

Seemingly, a new flu targeting young children has left Indian parents anxious after Kerala reported over 80 cases of Tomato Fever, also called Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. According to experts, it is a viral flu that has symptoms similar to Chikungunya. As far we have come to know, the fever attacks young children below the age of five years with red rashes or marks on face, palms and body.

The flu, which gets its name because of the red blisters it causes, has already caused our neighbouring country to be put on alert. The Indian health centre has also warned about the spread of the virus. So, Bangladesh has every reason to worry about this disease since it is a viral fever. The health authorities should mount vigil, strictly monitor visitors to Bangladesh from South India.

So far there is no news of any vaccine or drugs against the disease but one has to take care. We hope the said virus is not a serious problem and is just like any other virus having antidotes.
