A London-based organisation, British Bangladeshi Power and Inspiration, has prepared a list of ten most powerful Bangladeshi people in the world. The list is graced by illustrious persons like Nobel laureate Professor Dr Mohammad Yunus. It also includes the founder of BRAC Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, co-founder of YouTube Jawed Karim, cricketer Sakib Al Hassan and six others equally distinguished dignitaries.
Our country has no dearth of talented people and the above mentioned list is a glaring proof of it. We must pay highest respect to the people who bring respect and honour for our country. Honouring them will only enhance our image in the wide world. Another list of 100 notable Bangladeshis, who have made special contributions to British society, was also placed on the same occasion. The 2014 list of British Bangladeshi personalities was divided into 20 categories, including politics, business, media, sports, culture and celebrity. Usually Bangladesh is known for natural calamities and political instability to the world. So, any piece of positive news about Bangladesh encourages us to march forward with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. At present, we are facing serious image crisis due to a one-sided election and recent unprecedented political violence. The world looks at us with trepidation and consternation. We must quell the fear and show our best to the world.
