At least nine people were killed and more remain trapped under rubble after an explosion destroyed part of an apartment building in southern Ukraine, reports Bloomberg.
The blast occurred at about 10 p.m. local time in Yevpatoria on the west coast of the Crimean peninsula, causing two entryways in the five-story building to collapse, Ukraine's Emergency Ministry said in a statement on its Web site.
As many as 60 people may be buried in the debris, the ministry said. Relatives and acquaintances are receiving calls from residents caught under the rubble, rescue workers said, according to the statement.
