UN effort: A ray of hope

February 19, 2015 00:00:00

It is indeed heartening to note that finally the United Nations has taken an initiative to resolve the ongoing political impasse in our country. Like most other citizens of the country, I strongly feel that this UN move, although belated, is going to produce some positive results. I am hopeful that the UN will be able to strike an amicable settlement of the current political stalemate. It is sad that the leaders of our country are not capable of resolving their problems themselves without external intervention. It is a collective shame for the nation. The common people of the country are satisfied with very little.

They want to live in peace and security and have their both ends meet with their hard labour. But unfortunately, they are now passing their time in extreme agony and uncertainty, with no peace and harmony in sight in near future. I hope the United Nations will put their weight in favor of a dialogue and amicable settlement so that we can get back to our normal life. Greed-driven politics must be stopped as it is corrupting the society. The voting rights of the people must be shown proper respect. We experienced the reverse in the elections of 2014 which actually has led to the present unrest and violence in the country for nearly two years.  I hope the ruling party and the opposition will allow good sense to prevail and refrain from prolonging further the current spate of violence and turmoil.
