The fundamental idea of democracy is the rule of the people through their elected representatives. In Bangladesh, we had to make a lot of sacrifice to achieve democracy. Keeping the blood shedding history in mind it is imperative that democratic system is properly at work in the country. After the distressing shock of 1/11, the people and politicians realised the need for a true democratic system and a government elected by the people. But with great regret we observe that there are some unelected Advisors to the government who are holding important administrative positions and also representing Bangladesh in different national and international events. Maybe the advisors are more literate, capable and efficient than many political leaders. If so, why didn't they seek people's mandate, which otherwise could give them the legitimacy to utilise their talent and merit?
I do not think we are living under a true democracy. We should question the legal base of representing a democratic state by unelected persons.
