Unregistered SIMs: A nuisance

The initiative by the government to register all mobile SIMS is a laudable move. It is well known that most of the unregistered mobile SIMS are being used in various illegal and anti-social activities creating unrest in society and accelerating crime rate. It is known that around 130 million SIMs are being used in our country and many users are using more than one SIM so that they can enjoy better rate and greater connectivity.
Women using mobile phones are often harassed over phone as nowadays SIMS without registration can be procured and similar such incidents are on the rise. Often parents fear stalkers and do not give phone to their daughters when they are at home. They are given the phones only when they go out so that their parents can remain in touch with them and ensure their safety. Tight regulation for registration will help the common people and law enforcing agencies as the criminals resorting to extortion or blackmailing can be tracked and penalised. It looks like that the number of mobile SIMs sold will soon exceed the number of people in the country. Mobile phone has brought a revolution in communication around the globe and has made connectivity easier and cheaper. I hope the mobile phone companies will improve their services so that we can enjoy the best telecom service in the world.
