Upcoming Eid and cattle markets

Eid-ul-Azha is only a few weeks away and the entire Muslim world is preparing itself to celebrate it with due solemnity and religious fervour. Bangladesh is also no exception.  It is reported that the city corporation of north is considering about limiting the number of cattle markets. This could be a good move and the city corporations should also make sure that there are no temporary markets in the capital as they cause inconveniences for the city dwellers. The law enforcers must ensure a safe environment so that the buyers and sellers can transact with peace and security. The corporations must also make sure that the cattle markets maintain discipline and cleanliness as far as possible.  Often we see the cattle markets are extended far away from the designated places creating problems for the traders as well as the city dwellers. Quite often, some influential members of a locality are found involved in opening make shift cattle markets in their area and fighting among themselves to take control over the same which often ends in blood shed. The government must strictly control such law and order problems so that things do not deteriorate during the upcoming Eid.
