US ambassador meets Nepali PM

KATHMANDU, Aug 10 (Xinhua): A day after she presented her credentials amidst a function, the new United States ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell held a meeting with Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday morning.
After the meeting with the PM at his official quarters in Kathmandu, Powell told reporters that she talked about bilateral relations and US support for the peace process in Nepal.
It is learnt that activities of the government and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), resettlement of the Bhutanese refugees in third countries including the US and upcoming election to the Constituent Assembly elections were some of the subjects of discussion.
Officials closed to Koirala said Powell has assured to support printing of ballot papers for the elections scheduled for Nov. 22.
Powell arrived in Kathmandu Monday to replace James F Moriarty as envoy to Nepal for a three-year term. Moriarty completed his tenure in mid- July.
