US soldier charged with killing comrades

BAGHDAD, Oct 21 (AFP): A US soldier has been charged with killing two fellow American troops and wounding a third during a shooting spree last month in the restive city of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, a military statement said.
Army Special Neftaly Platero was on Wednesday charged with two counts of premeditated murder and one of attempted premeditated murder, the statement said, without giving further details.
It said the shootings took place in Fallujah on September 23 and resulted in the deaths of Private Gebrah Noonan and Special John Carrillo, and "the serious injury of one other US soldier," whom it did not name.
