Using social media effectively

February 04, 2018 00:00:00

WHETHER we accept it or not, social media has become an inseparable part of our daily life, at least for people living in urban areas. Prior to 2007, the teenagers and adults alike were used to engage themselves in diverse indoor and outdoor games during their free time. Nowadays they are found engrossed in social media like Facebook. As a matter of fact, Facebook now dominates the social media with over 1870 million active users and its closest competitor is again Facebook-owned WhatsApp with 1000 million users according to Smart Insight's recent research. The growing number of Facebook users clearly indicates its increasing popularity among people. People are indeed being benefited by the social media as a whole. Overindulgence or over-involvement in social media may have its damaging effects, but its positive impact on human life can hardly be undermined or ignored.

The benefits of social media greatly outweigh its demerits. About 90 per cent of marketers claim that social media generated immense exposure for their company. Social networks are now a substantial part of every marketing strategy. Implementing a social media strategy will greatly increase brand recognition since it helps us to be engaged with a broad spectrum of consumers.

We can create social media profiles to start with for our business and begin interacting with others, get employees, business partners, and sponsors. By simply having people to interact with our content we can have increased brand awareness and develop our reputation as a business. Each post that is shared will be introduced to a new network of individuals, which can lead them to becoming potential customers as the more the people know about our business, the better.

Without marketing activities on social media, our business will remain limited to our usual customers and we shall have much more difficulty reaching anyone outside of our loyal customer circle.

These are only some of the benefits and there are more. Crux of the issue is that we can not avoid social media if we want to prosper in business, but the media should be utilized effectively.
