Valuable lives lost

It was shocking to hear about a road accident in Natore where 38 people died on the spot when two buses collided head on. It is tragic. An investigation committee has been formed as usual but we are sure we will read such tragic loss of lives in the future. It seems we only wake up when something very bad happens, and after a few days when all the hullabaloos die down we forget everything.

Every year thousands of people die in road accidents but the number of accidents is not decreasing. Reckless driving and unskilled drivers are everywhere and it seems no one is there to monitor them.

I am sure the reckless driving is one of the main reasons of the tragic accident of Natore. Even the passengers often turn a blind eye when they see their driver is driving recklessly. The citizens have an important role to play here and their collective consciousness can help make our roads safer.
