Reports and photographs of traffic accidents and traffic jams are a regular feature in the newspapers almost every day. Sometimes many accidents happen not only in Dhaka city but also in many district and upazilla towns. In the capital, many people travel on the wrong side of the road and against the traffic flow. Newspapers have reported, along with photographs, that members of the law enforcement forces also drive their vehicles on the wrong side of the road.
There are drivers without proper license but the most unfortunate thing is that a large number of traffic offenders are VIPs who do not consider violation of traffic rules a crime and violate the rules at their whim. Are not the VIPs aware of the saying: example is better than precept? May be not.
