Violence: The enemy of growth

This is obviously the reality, yet sadly ignored by those who want to govern this country. If Bangladesh has to develop and grow, it must desist from all forms of violence. Among the lot, political violence is by far the worst crime. Unfortunately, almost all our political parties have embedded it in their culture and practice, usually by violently opposing innocent citizens going about their day-to-day work and livelihood. What happened in Narayanganj in the recent past is more like the heinous and inhuman crimes. This is simply a crime.
The basic tenet of rights in democracy in the country has been overturned, and political 'might' by killing and burning has become the way of life. Apart from political violence 'student violence' is also a major concern. Student groups at times act as the paid trouble makers and prove a destructive element for development of the country's trade and industry. Do our politicians realise that by resorting to violence in effect they are just doing harm to development of the country.
Today, there is hardly any politician, who follows the policy of non-violence. We desperately need principled and patriotic politicians who will be guided by the principle of non-violence. Everyone will agree that for continued peace and progress we must eliminate all forms of political violence.
