Waiving port demurrage

Many containers are piled up in ports due to the shutdown for Covid-19. The customs authorities have just released food and medicines for meeting emergency needs. However, this situation will not only hamper industrial production but also compel importers to pay penalty as port demurrage. They will also have to pay shipping-line demurrage for the delay in releasing goods. In the current circumstances, it is essential to allow waiver to importers from such penalties to help them overcome the losses they would suffer.
