Wanted a safer world for children

December 27, 2014 00:00:00

It was indeed shocking to read about the mass stabbing incident in Australia in which  eight children were killed and some mothers were injured seriously. The Australian police are still hunting for the killer(s), without any success so far. This incident was overshadowed by the news of brutal killings of 132 children in a school of Peshawar, Pakistan by the militants. The world was staring helplessly at the bizarre incident of cold-blooded murder perpetrated by Taliban militants.

Is the world is increasingly becoming dangerous for children? If we look back, we shall find that in the past, children were mostly safe during war, as knowingly nobody would hurt them. But sadly, they are also not being spared now.

One can easily comprehend the extent of grief when his/her innocent child gets killed in such brutality. The world leaders must stop unhealthy competition of producing weapons and concentrate on making the world peaceful.

None of us can remain safe if our neighbouring houses are set on fire. And for the sake of our own safety and safety of the world, we must be united in thinking and action to stop hatred and vengeance from spreading any further.

The world, which is not safe for the children, cannot be safe for anybody.
