The cabinet has again extended the provision of law with regard to quick rental electricity generation plants for a further period of four years providing immunity.
In the metro city of Dhaka, similar provisions need to be made in case of Dhaka WASA services like water supply, sewerage disposal, storm water cum used water disposal. The DWASA- supplied water does not reach many household underground reserve tanks while consumers have to use suction pumps if water exists in the mainline at all to draw it involving additional electricity-cum-cost. Since the DWASA is the sole authority to use deep tube well pumps to raise underground water, consumers cannot get it at their cost using pumps. Water crisis exists in many parts of Dhaka.
Should DWASA do something by undertaking mega projects like drawing clean water from the Meghna, the Padma and other rivers as was planned earlier?
