Import of rotten wheat from Brazil has already created a furore in society and the media has taken a strong stand on the issue. It is sad that the High Court had to issue orders to the government to verify if the wheat imported from Brazil is good for human consumption. I think the government should investigate into the matter and make it clear to the public. The wheat was imported from Brazil with a lot of money and now there is a strong allegation that the imported wheat is substandard.
The Prime Minister formed a probe committee and I hope we shall get a clear picture shortly. Food Minister Qamrul Islam has already come under strong criticism.  It is sad that taxpayers' money is wasted like this. Corruption is eating away the outcome of our hard work and no matter how hard we try to achieve prosperity, it is driving away the possibilities of development even further. This wheat scandal has seriously dented the image of the government and the guilty people must not be spared because of their identity. The food minister should resign immediately so that a free and fair probe can take place. The anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International is of the opinion that the food minister should resign. We all know the proverb that there is no smoke without fire. I hope the guilty people will face the punishment they deserve and it will remain as an example for others.
