Why club experience matters

In today's competitive job landscape, opportunities are no longer scarce. With the rise of remote employment, even international companies are hiring full-time professionals across borders. Yet, despite this accessibility, many skilled individuals in Bangladesh remain underemployed, while professionals from countries like India and the Philippines continue to secure better roles and leadership positions.
A major reason behind this disparity lies in soft skills-particularly communication. Many Bangladeshi graduates perform well in written exams, yet falter during interviews due to nervousness, lack of confidence, or limited experience with formal communication. These challenges often prevent deserving candidates from securing the jobs they are qualified for. University clubs can bridge this gap.
Beyond academic learning, clubs provide students with early exposure to real-world professionalism. Through managing responsibilities, working in teams, meeting deadlines, and engaging in formal presentations, students gain essential interpersonal and leadership skills in a low-risk environment.
Clubs cultivate both confidence and clarity. They train students to speak with purpose, listen actively, and represent themselves with credibility-skills that are indispensable during job interviews and in the workplace.
In conclusion, joining a university club is not just an extracurricular activity; it is a practical investment in one's career readiness. In a world where first impressions often make lasting impacts, the soft skills gained through club involvement can be the defining edge in a competitive market. Asiq Mohammad Mokbel
