Woman smoker

 I was taken aback by an incident that I had encountered a few days ago. I was sipping tea with my colleagues at a roadside tea stall. All of a sudden I came to see a girl aged 25 years in conversation with his male friends. However I was dismayed when I saw that the girl clad in saree and beli flower on her hair was smoking in public ignoring attention from others. At first sight I could not believe my eyes. Later my colleague ascertained that I was right. People passed bad comments in lower voice, but who cares! She was smoking and releasing smoke like a habituated smoker.

The body language of the girl showed that she hardly cares about public reactions. When there is a strong movement against smoking and restriction on advertisement of tobacco, such a demonstration will promote or allure other girls. We should remember the dangerous effect that smoking can cause death at an early age to men and women alike. Government needs to enforce tobacco law and create awareness among young generation. The media here can play a significant role.
