SANAA, Apr 19: Yemeni police killed one person and wounded several others when they opened fire on anti-regime demonstrators marching in the city of Taez on Tuesday, a medic and witnesses said. Police fired "indiscriminantly" on protesters demanding the departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the Wadi al-Qadi district of Taez, the second most-populated city of Yemen south of Sanaa, according to witnesses. -AFP
Iran assures Saudi Arabia of embassy security
TEHRAN, Apr 19: Iran Tuesday said it would ensure the security of the embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tehran after Riyadh threatened to pull out its diplomats following protests by Iranians outside its mission. "The security of embassies is a basic principle and we will ensure the security of embassies and the lives of diplomats," foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters at a press conference in reference to Saudi threat. -AFP
