YOUTUBE, the world's largest video sharing platform, is no longer limited to entertainment. It is gradually becoming a potential source of business.
The popularity of Youtube is on the rise in Bangladesh. The growing presence of the young generation on Youtube is really noteworthy. Salman Muqtadir, Shouvik Chowdhury, Raba Khan and many other Youtubers have risen to fame creating splendid contents over the last few years. As a result, Youtube is gradually emerging as an alternative media.
Over 1 billion people from all over the world are now connected to Youtube. Besides entertainment, Youtube has become a famous site for product review, lifestyle suggestion, health and technology related tips and many other purposes. The biggest advantage of Youtube is its open platform allowing anyone to share videos. According to Businessinsider.com, FellixShellberg, one of the most popular Youtubers worldwide, earned 15 million dollars in 2016.
With a view to grooming and nourishing the new generation of video content creators, the mobile operators have also taken a number of initiatives. For example, Banglalink has recently taken an initiative called 'Banglalink Next Tuber'. It is an innovative, first ever reality show based on digital platforms that will be featuring the best user-generated video contents in YouTube. The aim is to select the best videos as well as encourage the new generation to break into the online space as emerging talents. A site previously used only for entertainment purposes has become a career platform.
Youtube is a new business model. To go hand in hand with the technology-based world, we have to make our presence felt on Youtube more effectively. It will help Bangladesh make its image brighter at the international arena along with inspiring the young generation to utilize the new career platform showcasing their talent.
