Bangladesh trade fair in KL to begin Aug 15

A three-day trade fair, titled 'Trade in Bangladesh', will be held in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia from August 15, aiming to boost trade with Malaysia, reports UNB. Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Tourism Board will also take part in the fair, organisers told the news agency on Thursday. Minister, International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest, while BGMEA President M Atiqul Islam and BKMEA President M Selim Osman will also be present, Chief Executive Officer of the Headmaster Events, the organiser of the fair, Shafiul Islam said. He also said Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Faruk Khan will be present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest. "We've talked to our Commerce Minister but he's yet to confirm his presence in the opening session," Mr Islam said. The organisers have already met Malaysian High Commissioner in Dhaka Norlin Othman and sought her cooperation in successfully organising the event. Shafiul Islam said Norlin Othman welcomed the initiative of organising the single country fair in Kuala Lumpur. Headmaster Events Chief Executive Officer Shafiul Islam, Chief Financial Officer Syed Zafar and Chief Operating Officer Jamil Ahmed were present at the meeting with the Malaysian envoy. During the meeting, the delegation members apprised the High Commissioner of various features of the fair where a large number of Bangladeshi business enterprises and entrepreneurs will display their products through 242 stalls.
