Barua expects double digit industrial growth

Double digit industrial growth can be achieved within a short time provided the present industrialisation process continues in the country, said Industries minister Dilip Barua Monday.
He said the government has taken various development initiatives for the industry sector to flourish. "We are going to set up a new fertiliser factory, pharmaceutical industry and set up a leather industrial park."
The minister said these at a seminar on "40 years of independence: achievement and expectation of industries sector" at Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) auditorium in the city. Ministry of Industries organised the seminar in celebration of Victory Day.
Industries minister said the economy is stable now. Local apparel sector is dominating the global market and overseas employment also has marked a significant growth recently.
