LAHORE, April 22 (APP): Bosnian businessmen have shown keen interest in buying cooking oil, rice, home textiles, garments, leather products, sports and surgical equipment, food items and pet bottles from Pakistan.
This was stated by the head of a six-member LCCI mission Shahid Hassan Sheikh on his return from a five-day visit to Bosnia. The other members of the mission were: Hasnain Raza Mirza, Nasira Taskeen, Ali Ahsan, Saeed Akbar, CEO PBIT Saadat Muzaffar and Ms Aisha Sarwari.
Shahid Sheikh said that the main objective of the visit was to explore and study business opportunities for turning Bosnia into a hub of Pakistani products and for their onward export to Central and Eastern Europe.
He said that the mission remained quite successful in achieving its goals and objectives as the trade between the two countries would get a considerable jump because of a direct linkage between the LCCI and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Commerce of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The LCCI trade mission also had a meeting with Minister for Foreign Trade of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Bahilj and discussed ways and means to expedite the volume of two-way trade.
Midhat Salic, Assistant Minister for Foreign Trade, Pakistan's Ambassador to Bosnia Jauhar Saleem also took part in an hour-long meeting and gave their viewpoint on how trade and business relations could further be cemented, he added.
He said the Bosnian minister informed the LCCI mission that the Bosnian economy was open for investment and the Bosnian businessmen would be happy if the Pakistani businessmen invested in Bosnia.
The minister said that Bosnia was a major trading partner of the European Union and Turkey and any business in Bosnia was bound to reach marvellous global marketplaces, Shahid added.
