CAA 20th general assembly kicks off in city tomorrow

20th general assembly of the CAA (Commonwealth Association of Architects) will kick off tomorrow (Feb 19), and international conference CAA Dhaka 2013 will start Friday (Feb 22) at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city.
Prime Minister will inaugurate the two-day international conference Friday, while Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu will inaugurate the three-day general assembly Tuesday.
Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and CAA president Mubasshar Hussain disclosed this information at a press conference at a city hotel Sunday.
Bangladesh is going to organise the conference for the first time. The theme of the conference for this year is 'Architecture, Response and Responsibility.'
British architect David Adjaye will present the keynote paper at the programme. Besides, 21 local and foreign architects will present papers.
Mubasshar Hussain said: "The architects of our country are doing international standard works, and receiving recognition across the world."
He said: "The conference will be a great opportunity for the local architects and construction material producers, as 30 architects from the Commonwealth and other countries, including India, Jamaica, Singapore, the US and the UK, will attend the conference."
During the conference a building material and technology exhibition named Arch Expo 2013 will be organised at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla from Feb 22 to 24. ICT Minister Yafesh Osman will inaugurate the expo.
Besides, a photography exhibition will start on February 20 at Gallery Chitrak, and the winners of international design competition will be awarded prize at the concluding ceremony of the CAA conference.
CAA Dhaka 2013 organising committee convenor A S M Ismail, IAB vice president Kazi Golam Nasir, CAA Dhaka 2013 organising committee member secretary Ishtiaque Zahir Titas, and media convenor Shakoor Majid, were present, among others, at the press conference.
