The University of Dhaka has long been the heartbeat of academic and cultural life in Bangladesh. Its departments do not simply teach students a subject; they shape people. The Department of Accounting is no different, and every year its student forum makes a point of proving that from day one.

UDAF, the University of Dhaka Accounting Forum, hosted its orientation programme 'UDAF Says Hi' at the TSC Auditorium recently, welcoming freshers from the 31st and 32nd batches of the Department of Accounting. The event was sponsored by Joya Sanitary Napkin in association with SMC Enterprise Limited. Students, faculty members, alumni, and club representatives gathered to give newcomers an early look at what life in the department actually looks like beyond lecture halls and textbooks.

This year's theme, 'UDAF Theatre', gave the evening a distinctly creative character. Storytelling, performances, and interactive segments ran alongside sessions covering co-curricular opportunities and career pathways available to accounting students. It was the kind of introduction that made clear the department takes its students seriously, not just academically, but also as whole individuals with interests and ambitions that extend well beyond the classroom.

The chief guest was Abul Bashir Khan, CFO of SMC Enterprise Limited, and the special guest was Tapan Bala, CFO of SMC Limited. Their presence underlined the strong ties the department maintains with the professional world, something that matters a great deal for students beginning to think about where their degree might take them. Faculty members in attendance included moderator of UDAF Professor Amirus Salat, Student Counsellor of the department Professor Al Amin, and BBA Programme Director Ishter Mahal, among others.

Cultural performances rounded off the evening, with students presenting recitation, drama, dance, music, and a ramp walk, all fitting naturally within the theatre theme and showcasing the range of talent across the two new batches.

For students just finding their footing at one of Bangladesh's most storied universities, 'UDAF Says Hi' served as a reminder that they are not simply joining a department. They are joining a community.
