China may extend sugar import quotas on weak global prices

BEIJING. Oct 22 (Commodity Online): China may extend Sugar import quotas as global sugar prices are witnessing a declining trend. Sugar for March delivery at the Inter Continental Exchange (ICE) traded down 0.17 per cent touching $26.80. According to the US Department of Agriculture attaches in Beijing, the Chinese sugar inventories are low and the production fails to meets demand. Hence, it is likely to extend the low tariff import qoutas.
