CNG Filling Station Owners Assoc elects executives

Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association has got new executive committee for 2011-13 session. The executives were elected through an election held recently. Immediate past secretary general of the association Zakir Hossain Nayan was elected president and immediate past executive committee member Sajedul Islam Chowdhury Dipu became secretary-general for the next two years. The other elected office bearers are: vice-presidents Abdul Matin Khan, Nazrul Islam, Mohammad Irad Ali, Mohammad Amjad Hossain Chowdhury and Zubaer Ahmed Chowdhury. Joint-secretaries Abdus Sattar and Zaed Ahmed Tapan. Finance-secretary AKM Alamgir Khan, joint-finance-secretary Muhammad Abdul Manna Sarkar, organising-secretary Safiuddin Ahmed and joint-organizing-secretary Saida Akter. Mr Nayan told the FE they would work for the betterment of association members as the filling station owners elected them with some expectations. The eight-day long 'Digital ICT Fair' titled 'Go Green With ICT,' commenced at city`s Multiplan Computer City on Monday to showcase and sell latest information and communication technology (ICT) products. The fair will remain open for all from 10 am to 8 pm every day and continue until December 26. The entry fee has been fixed at Tk 10 but school students will have free access, the organisers said. Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has inaugurated the fair where about 500 stalls of different ICT products have been set up. Inaugurating the fair, the minister stressed the need for appropriate use of ICT products to protect environment as the climate change depends on human behavior. He said the government has given importance to the sector and made a separate ministry for the development of ICT. Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh explained the importance of use of ICT products in our daily lives and said the government fixed a goal to turn the country into digital Bangladesh. President of Bangladesh Computer Samiti Mostafa Zabbar urged the government to make a policy on e-garbage management. Among others, former state minister for Information Prof Abu Sayeed and president of American Chambers and Commerce Aftab ul Islam participated the inaugural ceremony which was presided over by Convener of Digital ICT Fair-2011 Towfique Ehsan.
